I’ve been loving this midi skirt trend and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere! As a shortie (I’m 5’2″), I was hesitant that the length wouldn’t be flattering, but I usually pair them with a heel to balance out the length. If I’m getting a midi skirt that I’m planning on wearing with flats, I’ll do a petite length. Here’s how I’ve been styling this skirt this spring!
Style #1: The Everyday Look

For running errands and doing normal things, I paired my midi with a cropped sweatshirt. A cropped sweatshirt (or sweater) makes it easier to do a front-tuck, which creates a silhouette. A front-tuck (or French-tuck in the words of Queer Eye’s Tan France), helps balance the generally looser midi skirts when you’re pairing them with a looser top. Keeping the look monochrome (even down to the shoes) also helps to keep the skirt casual. I paired this with a pair of low-heeled mules to give myself a bit of extra height, they also have a pointed toe which helps elongate the line.
Style #2: The Happy Hour Look

I dressed up my skirt with a simple sandal and tank bodysuit. With the ribbed skirt, I like to mix textures: the bodysuit has a “hold you in” fabric, and the teddy coat is obviously…teddy. I love the pairing of the skirt with a teddy coat for another monochrome look. I added a red handbag for a pop of color and layered simple gold necklaces. For when it warms up and isn’t teddy coat weather, a tan lightweight blazer would be a cute layer.
Style #3: A Night Out

For my dressiest option, I added a satin bodysuit and a statement belt. The denim jacket keeps the look more versatile, and sticking with black denim makes it more night-time appropriate. This look still has a wide variety of textures and I love the pairing of tan with black to dress it up the neutral skirt. A neutral pump continues the line from the tan skirt, making me look taller.
