All-Black for Winter

My wardrobe has become a lot less colorful since I cut my hair into the bob three years ago: with a sleek cut, I’m drawn to black, white, and grey when it comes to my clothing. I keep it super simple, and it makes pairing pieces together in my closet really easy. I’m definitely drawn to the drama of an all-black look; here’s a little glimpse of how I’ve worn black this winter.

When I left the house wearing these Chanel dupe slingbacks, it was only lightly snowing. Ten minutes later, in pure Michigan fashion, it was snowing so heavily that my shoes were the opposite of practical. I paired them with a pair of black ankle flares and a cozy turtleneck. I bought this black turtleneck three years ago, and wear it at least once a week every winter. I’ve had the grey version for three years as well, and added it in emerald green to my wardrobe this winter. It is the softest fabric and I like the drape-y fit paired with a skinny jean. I’m also so glad that turtlenecks are back in style, I think the neckline is so dramatic without being revealing, so I don’t freeze in the winter.

The chain-link belt added a fun touch of 90’s glam to the look. It has pearl accents and also looks great with an all-white ensemble. I’m a big fan of trendy accessories, it’s a great way to incorporate a different style into a look, without having to spend a ton of money to get the look.

A cozy thermal has become a wardrobe staple over the past two years. I wear mine both knotted and tucked into jeans. I’ve gotten the most milage out of the thermal in black (I have blue and light pink as well), and it’s a great basic that can be worn many ways. I added leopard shoes to have a bit of color, and grabbed the red bag for an extra pop.

I love the distressing on these jeans: a good pair of distressed jeans helps make my outfits less dressy and glamorous. It’s a great everyday look!

xoxo,

Kaitlyn Alexandra
