Welcome to Ann Arbor, Drybar!

I’m notoriously low-maintenance with my hair: I’ve had it professionally colored once in my life, I usually color it from a box, and I get it cut at Great Clips. Nothing special; my hair is fine and straight so it doesn’t need too much. This New Years Eve, however, my hair got the rare royal treatment at the grand opening of Drybar in Ann Arbor. Their new location is now open in the Arbor Hills shopping area on Washtenaw Ave.

I started my morning with a mimosa, and my stylist transformed my second-day hair into a style called the cosmo-tai (a combo of curls and waves). The wash and blow dry felt amazing, it was such a treat to have someone else work their magic on my hair. I was super impressed with my hair post-blow dry: even before styling, it had tons of volume.

We added in the curled style for a little something different (I usually wear my hair straight), and it looked so good- I loved the texture, and we used a combo of Drybar styling products to help it keep it’s style.

I had such a fun afternoon, and will definitely be back: next time, I’d try the “straight up” style. My hair texture is so fine, that it’s hard to do a curled style that holds through a long day. I’ll try the sleek version of this blowout for my next fancy event!
Update on the Drybar products that I’ve been trying: I do blow-dry my hair almost every morning, it’s a must for getting the perfect short hair style. The Jumpstart blow-dry serum has been awesome for adding weightless volume and bit of sleekness. I’ve been using the Triple Sec finishing spray when I backcomb my hair, and I have to use it lightly: my scalp gets itchy later in the day if I use too much. I’ve heard people rave about the Detox dry shampoo: I generally wash my hair everyday, but if I skip a wash I need something to get rid of the oil, and this has been doing a a great job! The Money Maker hairspray has been fun to play with: I usually use a pretty heavy-duty hairspray, but this keeps the movement in my style while aiming the flyaways. I’m enjoying it!
xoxo,
Kaitlyn
